Local University of Notre Dame student
gets firsthand experience at Wellington

Rachel Hughes couldn’t believe when her parents called a few months ago to tell her she had won a week long shadowing experience with Hand, Wrist, and Elbow specialist Robert Rhoad, M.D. at Wellington. She was excited and anxious for the opportunity they had afforded her as part of the Indian Hill School District “Party on the Hill” fundraiser.

Rachel was a 2011 graduate of Indian Hill High School and is currently a junior at the University of Notre Dame, majoring in pre-professional science. She had quite a week learning and experiencing all aspects of an orthopedic practice while working with Dr. Rhoad, his assistant Marianne Luken, and Education and Research Foundation Director, Chris Giordullo.

Whether it was in surgery, in the clinic seeing patients, or physical therapy Rachel enjoyed living her dream of shadowing a surgeon at a prestigious practice like Wellington and said it was an experience she’ll never forget. We were honored to have her with us for the week and wish Rachel well in her future endeavors!
