Good Samaritan Hospital has announced that its hip and knee joint replacement programs have earned the Gold Seal of Approval™ certification from The Joint Commission (TJC).
According to TJC’s website, Good Samaritan is the only Cincinnati hospital to have earned this designation for joint replacement expertise, and is the only as of this release date. The Gold Seal of Approval™ award recognizes compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in disease-specific care.
“I am proud of the partnership of multiple orthopedic physician groups as well as a multidisciplinary team of hospital staff who have worked together to create a program that is dedicated to evidence-based standards of care and continuous improvement,” said John Prout, president and chief executive officer of Good Samaritan Hospital and of TriHealth. “This certification is another measure of progress toward our strategic goal of becoming a market leader in quality, service excellence and patient safety.”
“Our achievement of this Joint Commission certification directly reflects our commitment to patients.”Both the hip and knee joint replacement programs underwent a rigorous on-site survey on Friday, March 11. A Joint Commission expert surveyor evaluated Good Samaritan for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients and families, including program leadership, infection prevention, pain management and patient satisfaction.
“Our achievement of this Joint Commission certification directly reflects our commitment to patients in this region who trust our physicians and staff to provide the highest quality and safest hip and knee reconstruction outcomes,” noted Mark Snyder MD, medical director of the Hip and Knee Replacement Program at Good Samaritan Hospital.
This certification is the latest in a series of quality designations received by Good Samaritan’s joint replacement program recently, including:
- Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Blue Distinction Centers for Knee and Hip Replacement
- United Health Premium, United Premium Specialty Care Designation, Total Joint Replacement
- Aetna, Institute of Quality, Orthopedic Care, Total Joint Replacement
