What is an Athletic Trainer?
Athletic trainer’s are responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries including those that are acute or chronic. Their unique skill set allows them to provide a range of services from emergency on-field care to treating those with functional limitations or disabilities. To become a certified athletic trainer, one must earn a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a nationally accredited college or university. These programs provide instruction in areas such as injury/illness prevention, first aid, wound and emergency care, human anatomy, physiology and nutrition. The certified athletic trainer then must become licensed to practice athletic training in the state of Ohio.
